Washington, D.C. (Sports Network) - D.C. United released goalie Jose Carvallo on Thursday. Carvallo, 22, was signed in January from Peru's Universitario de Deportes but made just one appearance for United. Prior to joining D.C., he spent his entire career with Universitario. He first joined Universitarios youth teams at the age of 12. In 2003, at just 17 years of age, he made his professional debut with the first team. Washington, D.C. (Sports Network) - D.C. United acquired the rights to former San Jose Earthquakes midfielder Joe Vide on Wednesday, Vide, 23, was waived by San Jose on July 14. He made five appearances for the Earthquakes, including two starts, this season. He was originally drafted fifth overall in the 2006 MLS Supplemental Draft by New York. He made seven first team appearances in his rookie year and played in 16 games, including 13 starts, for the Red Bulls in 2007.

United acquired midfielder Craig Thompson from the Houston Dynamo in exchange for a fourth round natural selection in the 2010 MLS Supplemental draft, the team announced on Monday. Thompson has signed a developmental contract and will be available for selection in Tuesday's U.S. Open Cup match with the Rochester Rhinos.
